Sarah Palin – 2012 Candidate For President?
July 7th, 2009
Sarah Palin is among a handful of Republicans (along with Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, and Bobby Jindal) who keep getting listed among those likely to be a candidate for President in 2012.
To those of us who thought she was an absolute disaster as John McCain’s VP candidate in 2008 this is hard to come to grips with. Why on earth would anyone think she is capable of being President when she showed clearly during the 2008 election that she is not even capable of giving intelligible answers to simple questions? Remember that Katie Couric interview?
Is she really the best that the Republicans have for 2012? If so Obamaphobes better get used to President Obama because he should be in the White House until January 2017.
I don’t have much faith in the average American voter (they did elect George W. Bush to a second term in 2004 after all) but there’s just no way that Sarah Palin can get elected in a general election. Sadly for the Republicans I do think there’s a decent shot she can win the Republican nomination. Particularly if the party continues to shrink as it has over the last few years.
The Republicans that remain are more likely to be the type of social conservative “fundies” that love Sarah Palin. This means that when the party grows smaller, the chance of Palin becoming the nominee increases.
If Palin does become the nominee and Obama’s popularity level is near where it’s at now then there would be a very high possibility for a truly monumental landslide in Obama’s favor in 2012. I’ll make an early prediction of 62% for Obama to 30% for Palin with 8% to other candidates (I figure the libertarian candidate may get more support in such a scenario.)
Sarah Palin – Read the letter about her from someone who really knows her.
